Between 1776 and 1795, thirteen stars were depicted on the American Flag. This design variant was used during the Battle of Cowpens during the American Revolutionary War.

FRENCH FEMALE ANATOMICAL MANNEQUIN, 19th century; with an accompanying letter; together with a BOX LOT OF ANATOMICAL BODY PARTS; Note: The lot is accompanied with a handwritten letter that reads:

A 3/4 size of (missing…) owned by the late Dr. Alice B. Condiet, M.D. This manakin was on exhibition in the World’s Fair, Paris and Dr. Condiet saw it there. The French physician who made it by hand was unwilling to sell it as it was his idea. And then there was nothing just like it. Afterward he made a ??(ink faded)…and ….to my aunt…As far as we know it was the only one in the world and was considered priceless - but since, however, there have been manakins of similar type of the whole human frame. (further note) Dr. Conduit used this manakin in her practice in India and also in the North India Medical School for Native Christian Women.

Dr. Alice B. Condiet was a published New Jersey gynecologist in the early part of the 20th century. She also spent time in 1905 and 1906 teaching in Ludhiana, India at the North India Medical School for Native Christin Women, the first medical school for women in Asia. Although the letter does not state who the doctor was that made this manakin, it is known that August Joseph Lutaud, an eccentric and well known gynaecologist of the 19th century, exhibited at the 1900 Worlds Fair in Paris.
